After Eater, I bought 4 plain blue baskets. </div><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 400px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 377px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5542562731155014770" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhQ1Pu1N0xluODE2sytVNaWc-k4eTI-q0x0XKHkJzqVe7Oiiy6MrUrOBxtoEGKXWDBQofQAZ-LdD5ay82WWKcw7YCCvoajHZFWjV4j7nGT8LfM4BscNaQ_PphXM2L4QD7xoOnqWjUaOCls_/s400/flowergirls.jpg" /><br /><div></div><div>I had just enough orange ribbon to wrap around each one and twist around the handle. then after not having enough ribbon to make bows, and not really knowing how to make bows easily, I decided to take some silk flowers I had and hot glue them on. I glued the first one on, but it wasn't centered, so i added 2 more. The flowers all started the same size, to make 2 of them smaller, i pulled the little plastic thing off the back, removed 1 and 2 layers of petals and put the plastic thing back on. The smallest flower was attached carefully to the handle so that the handle would still pivot, making storage easier. </div><br /><div></div><div>The baskets were filled with cut up silk flowers. I would have needed 2 $10 boxes of petals, but i did the math and i got more than enough flower petals with 4 bouquets of cheap silk roses in 2 colors. Plus, my sister, who is helpful but not super crafty, needed an easy job on craft night, so she sat and cut the petals off the roses. </div><div></div><br /><p><span style="color:#006600;">COST OF PROJECT = $21.75 for 4 baskets and petals. </span></p><ul><li><span style="color:#006600;">Baskets 4 x $2 = $8</span></li><li><span style="color:#006600;">Ribbon: 1 spool for $1</span></li><li><span style="color:#006600;">Orange silk flowers: $0.75</span></li><li><span style="color:#006600;">Petals: 4 bouquets x $3 each = $12</span></li></ul>About the flower girl dresses, they were on Clearance for $9 each at Wal-Mart. Then I decided to make a collar for our dog, so I went back to buy another, and it was only $5, <img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 343px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 355px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5542564909142055986" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiWuTxU_1MCB-Q2FwEjMXbe8soe1mnJftzzRSoh_wJGHDTzvaSVxNo1T27w273n3VBNcEGoNV2s6yqvVY33YU1fmxpuJD-HHYmRd8PEBSMsLNX30aNCycmxyPnaLYuRY6jCBN7jejWNPAvE/s400/annie+the+flowerdog.jpg" /><br />Knowing her temperament, Annie was not part of the ceremony, I just made the collar for her for fun. All I did was cut the dress just above the ruffle, and folded a wide seam, hot glued the seam shut into a sleeve, (like for a curtain rod) and slid her regular collar inside the sleeve. We got the jewel beaded leash at a pet store for her.<br /><br /><br />I told the parents the flower girls can wear whatever shoes they had already or that they wanted to get them so they wouldn't have to spend much, although $9 is pretty cheap for the dresses.Cyndihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03993256987784714244noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7807219302587232838.post-43396537741250706622010-11-22T17:20:00.000-08:002012-12-04T15:32:45.724-08:00Cupcake Tree ~ revisited<div>
I am so happy with my decision to do cupcakes and to display them in tiers like a traditional cake. <br />
<div>
<div>

<br />
<div>
I took this, a naked <a href="http://www.facebook.com/?ref=logo#!/Cupcaketree">Cupcake Tree</a>:</div>
<img alt="" border="0" src="http://www.cupcaketree.com/images/naked-CCT.jpg" style="cursor: hand; display: block; height: 300px; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; width: 350px;" />and turned it into this:<br />
<img alt="" border="0" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5542550366258956002" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgsBFq8z3kPoVDSas1MrshWw1xsl_eSy99co_tpIWxUqQ4qo_5_0HHRUNTa2sb7vCLIwsFb41KJOTLK8nFtbbwfwGdzaPMKZpstWf9AB-TVK04C-_vi4H8sIVM0eTSiHUc18pKhyphenhyphen6TdeUDZ/s400/Cyndi+and+Mikey%2527s+Wedding+623.JPG" style="cursor: hand; display: block; height: 267px; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; width: 400px;" /> <a href="http://hiscb.blogspot.com/2010/08/cupcake-trials.html">read about the flavors here</a><br />
<br />
<div>
</div>
<br />
<div>
what i did was take a few rolls of solid blue wrapping paper and wrapped all the peices, attatching with tape. Assembled all the peices. (super easy to assemble, btw) then we hot glued the orange ribbon around the edge of each tier. then, using double sided tape, my bridesmaid put paper doilies all over each level. The cupcakes were organized by flavor, and on the table under the stand, i put hand stamped signs for each flavor. <img alt="" border="0" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5545431656004234290" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjsHyguivawKM5VcO0IesgWSvMzDXAdhPQfxLIzOvu4oWmyNBM_4UkEj3Ob0ikTMVYtyr3ZRX_zCaOH52N-IKeWQ6WqhG4yloluqWHatY_Inj1Ljnm2yCwzbEjbiAdeE5OO4ifQ4qVm6mgA/s320/cupcake+label.jpg" style="cursor: hand; display: block; height: 198px; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; width: 187px;" /></div>
<br />
<div>
</div>
<br />
<br />
<div>
The top tier was a <a href="https://www.bigtopcupcake.com/">Big Top Cupcake</a>. I have a lovely friend Tresha, who owns a cake decorating buisness, <a href="http://www.facebook.com/?ref=logo#!/pages/Stayton-OR/Pink-Princess-Cakes/133373630018557">Pink Princess Cakes</a> who came over with some other friends, and family members to help frost all the cupcakes. That day, I was going to bake the jumbo cupcake, but it didnt turn out (looked done, but was batter still on the inside, (thats what I get for not following directions) so, being as wonderful as she is, Tresha took the pan home with her and brought it back morning of the wedding. My only instruction was that i wanted it to look like a big cupcake, and my "bride and groom" topper idea was to make cupcakes look like a bride and groom.</div>
<div>
This is what she brought, and WE LOVED IT: </div>
<div>
<img alt="" border="0" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5542552910947634690" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjEK_L_i6dLdSbqAW9fvHnIJln4taH9ggq9e06cJaAXHSvbmPdCEqmdAGisjDmRclyvlHMfPQNWUAsHpdW9XJHXjWaB1Vg-GdXwOZXdqLWs77BolkKyVsBLL4kaFyO-g70T9jb1hlLfIRIo/s400/Cyndi+and+Mikey%2527s+Wedding+347.JPG" style="cursor: hand; display: block; height: 267px; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; width: 400px;" /></div>
</div>
</div>
</div>
it was super yummy too! since we cut into this cake for the cake cutting ceremony, we saved the groom and bride cupcakes for our 1 year anniversary. <img alt="" border="0" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5542554075718747154" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg6cc6VCyYzm26ll5vUZLumcA_xKsOBZeYizSLMgAOwEkMed9_AC3IWicPU5dI9U0ZxssluvmIOolItPDQDmT8Y7KCVgn-3Fj45PyO8p1i-V11YP05vWuB2OxYgyKfMWZzWVmGRH-14InfA/s400/Cyndi+and+Mikey%2527s+Wedding+734.JPG" style="cursor: hand; display: block; height: 267px; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; width: 400px;" /><br />
<br />
ETA I have since used this cupcake tree 7 MORE TIMES! <a href="http://pretzelparties.blogspot.com/2012/10/the-life-of-cupcaketree.html">read about that here</a></div>

When i found 2 signature mats at W<span id="SPELLING_ERROR_0" class="blsp-spelling-error">al-Mart</span> on clearance for $0.75 each, I decided that was what i was going to do. <div><br /><div>First, i thought i would just do a little sign "please sign frame" note and put it on the table with the <a href="http://hiscb.blogspot.com/2010/11/ooh-goodie-bags.html"><span id="SPELLING_ERROR_1" class="blsp-spelling-error">goodie</span> bags</a>. Then i was concerned with someone signing too close to the edge of the mat, that would be covered with a frame, so since we were doing well on budget <span style="font-size:85%;">(his parents offered to pay for the food sort of last minute)</span>, and since we will need to buy frames anyway, <span style="font-size:85%;">(we originally thought we would use wedding gift cards or gift cash for them, after)</span>, we decided, correction, I decided to buy some frames and put the mat in the frame for signing. The frames we bought had thinner mats in them, i swapped them out. Also, not wanting to have some sheets of glass just sitting someplace in my craft room, I decided to put the glass in the frame, under the mat, for the time being, so it would be kept safe, with the frames until after we get pictures printed. </div><br /><div>To dress up the frames, since there <span id="SPELLING_ERROR_2" class="blsp-spelling-corrected">wasn't</span> a picture in the middle yet, i hand stamped the "please sign" notes for the picture openings. then just used a tiny bit of tape to hold it <span id="SPELLING_ERROR_3" class="blsp-spelling-corrected">in place</span>, on the back of the mat. </div><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 400px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 266px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5542542642296434258" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhn5seHg45SDcGTwUgeH504VUoRcpO0lorZNv6pk1CyHRzHSyW8mn9eJdKTqpTIBHrRKqh68HzoFpoTDZzyPT5MKbyTnkT60g-zmHZxqNF2xgHVEXB8Mj0iEkM525pZjLjL3pCUyPHExbTi/s400/guest+book+frame+before.jpg" />putting the note inside the frame worked well, because one of my groomsmen, or someone i <span id="SPELLING_ERROR_4" class="blsp-spelling-corrected">don't</span> really know who, took the frames from the welcome table during the reception to go to each table to make sure everyone signed it, which i was very happy about, and <span id="SPELLING_ERROR_5" class="blsp-spelling-corrected">didn't</span> plan on doing. Only thing, <span id="SPELLING_ERROR_6" class="blsp-spelling-corrected">some one's</span> <span id="SPELLING_ERROR_7" class="blsp-spelling-corrected">hot dog</span> signed the frame with a tiny spot of mustard... i will try to cover it or something. </div><div></div><br /><p><span style="color:#006600;">COST OF PROJECT: $37.50</span></p><ul><li><span style="color:#006600;">Signature mats: 2 x $0.75= $1.50</span></li><br /><li><span style="color:#006600;">Frames: 2 x i think, $15</span></li><br /><li><span style="color:#006600;">Pens: 2 (2 packs) x $3something </span></li><br /><li><span style="color:#006600;">stamp and ink for note: leftover from </span><a href="http://hiscb.blogspot.com/2010/07/napkins.html"><span style="color:#006600;">Napkin Rolls </span></a><span style="color:#006600;">and already owned</span></li></ul><br /><p>I gotta tell ya, I really like the <a href="http://pen.sharpie.com/">Sharpie Pens</a>, they worked very well on the signature mats, no smudging and I've been using them since the wedding, and they work very well. a clean bold ink. just <span id="SPELLING_ERROR_8" class="blsp-spelling-corrected">don't</span> leave the cap off, I made that mistake once, it dried out :(<br /><br />Also, the note inside matches other signs I made, for the cupcake flavors, bathroom door sign, and <span id="SPELLING_ERROR_9" class="blsp-spelling-corrected">place cards</span> for the reserved table seats. </p>Cyndihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03993256987784714244noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7807219302587232838.post-39674288884375540882010-11-22T16:19:00.000-08:002010-11-22T16:44:43.558-08:00ooh goodie... bags<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiDcL2nfhB2x13wvvyVw0uOJWb_X0R2oULBy3MEjKDaEjYT2BQScZa69N4FmJws7xvxJweCGuLxZ5ssJhKc2OOFux6pz7NdM2vU-YTqApxNccrPYs8COSHruTkW4NsO0zQdxtaeQzyH9tAt/s1600/Cyndi+and+Mikey%2527s+Wedding+010.JPG"><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 400px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 267px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5542536214124265202" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiDcL2nfhB2x13wvvyVw0uOJWb_X0R2oULBy3MEjKDaEjYT2BQScZa69N4FmJws7xvxJweCGuLxZ5ssJhKc2OOFux6pz7NdM2vU-YTqApxNccrPYs8COSHruTkW4NsO0zQdxtaeQzyH9tAt/s400/Cyndi+and+Mikey%2527s+Wedding+010.JPG" /></a>so i originally wasnt going to do goodie bags for the kiddos, but i love kids and was doing good on the budget and to-do list, so when i found a package of 60 mini card games like these: <div><br /></div><div><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 300px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 300px; CURSOR: hand" border="0" alt="" src="http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/51gQcEArEOL._SL500_AA300_.jpg" /></div><div>for $8 at costco, i couldnt pass it up. i knew i had about 20 clear cellophane goodie bags leftover from another occastion and a big ziplock of small toys and goodies from other goodie bags and pinata, i decided to go ahead and make up goodie bags. each one had a card game deck, an orange or blue tootsie pop (we picked through the bulk candy bin at Winco for the wedding colors. 2 orange wrapped off brand peanut butter cups , a few little toys, a puzzle book, and a noise maker. </div><div><br /></div><div></div><div>(yes my then-fiance thought i was nuts for including noisemakers, but i really wasnt worried about the noise, i trust parents not to let the kids play with them for the ceremony and wasnt worried about the reception. it was pretty casual. afterwards, i dont regret it at all, i dont remember anything negative about the goodie bags. )</div><div> </div><div>i tied each bag up with ribbon, and put them all in a wrapped box lid. This ended up working very well, people knew right where to put the cards, it helped decorate the gift table, and we used it to store all the cards and very small gifts after the wedding. <img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 400px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 267px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5542527906961801042" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjcKW0niunYzsyc4vKNtd2cpzzBZxp9LK7OvSvvg4iegwtVn4jHA77KZYN_VUKAftZhyphenhyphenaMQsNvVt8lFB9An7nHKbaTHnTrJg9phVu8zxxyzMIsKZkudr6g7aiCHRmDTsAAB0MHsCDKx0bwa/s400/Cyndi+and+Mikey%2527s+Wedding+005.JPG" /><br /><p>after seeing lots of blog posts, forum posts and bio pages about card boxes, i decided i was NOT going to spend much money. i certaintly wasnt going to buy craft cardboard boxes at $7-$15 each. Mine was fashioned out of a printer paper box. My MIL brings these home from the office for organizing and storage. i wrapped both the bottom and top seperately. I cut a slit centered in the lower half of the lid with a craft knife. to clean up the edges of the slit, i tucked one peice of ribbon in the end of the slit, taped it from the inside and around the top. did the same on the other side. then added a length of ribbon, overlapping the first one above and below the slit. then wrapped the teal ribbon around the bottom lining it up with the top. i simply secured the wrapping paper and tape with simple scotch tape. I cut the word "Cards" out with my cricut and glue-sticked them on. The paper flowers,and rhinestone stickers were left over from my <a href="http://hiscb.blogspot.com/2010/09/votives.html">votive holder make over</a>. </p><p>COST OF PROJECT: practically free but if i hadnt had the leftovers, would have been like $9</p><ul><li>Paper flowers: leftover from other project, but the entire package was $3.99 at party depot. </li><li>wrapping paper: i think, $2.50 a roll at walmart. i also used it to wrap attenant gifts too. </li><li>ribbon: on sale at michaels for $1/roll. didnt use an entire roll</li><li>tape: was originally 3/$1 at dollar tree.</li><li>lettering: already had the paper in my scrapbook supplies. </li><li>glue stick: idk i had it on hand from way before</li><li>box: free and recycled! </li></ul>Cyndihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03993256987784714244noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7807219302587232838.post-13110010199298977382010-09-13T22:31:00.001-07:002010-09-13T23:14:45.469-07:00Some of the Bouteneers and Corsages<div align="left">Its common in our family, (and even if it weren't, I would want it) for parents, and grandparents to get bouteneers and corsages to wear at the wedding. I bought the orange ribbon from Michaels on sale for like 0.20 a roll, the dangly bead things were left over from other weddings in my crafty family. We used floral tape from Michaels to bind the stems together.<br /><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5516630207084875890" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 320px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 240px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiE6BfuOO5byQ_ZRFQmnu8fy4FD5gRha5AcG4qPqE8azkvytXEQFeyk_r1tOcpNtjVRRkp8J4nqLFvgHhNmuVdlaFRFgVatEyX_tIhUihpZBeifN4gk947hYxty7JpUSFYIZlRQewOuKfpQ/s320/bm+bouquet+charm.JPG" border="0" /><br />My favorite part of the bouquet is the initial charms on each one. (this pic has an L) When I saw other bouquets with initial charms, or beads, or whatever, I thought if I could get each letter for like $1, it would be worth it. On our Preweddingmoon in Las Vegas, we went downtown to a super cheap souvenier shop and found these slide on charms for <span style="color:#009900;">$0.50 each + stupid tax</span>. I hadnt decided exactly who my bridesmaids would be at that time, but got some extra letter options for the undecided girls.<br />After deciding on my girls though, I found that I needed another L so my darling aunt, who works in retail, looked online and found me <a href="http://cgi.ebay.com/Slide-Charm-Letters-Personalized-Dog-Collars-6-PACK-/330433771595?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item4cef63384b">Dog Colllar Slide Charms</a> that look the same as the ones I had already got. They offer your choice of 6 for <span style="color:#009900;">5.99 + 1.41</span> shipping. Because I had extra letters, I opted to add a letter charm to each of my sister in law's coursages (they were possible bridesmaids candidates) and I also wanted a heart charm for the throw bouquet, so I am ordering 5 letters and a heart charm. The extra letters will be for my Traincarrier corsages, and my brother's girlfriend, since she is like a sister-in-law also.<br />In the end I was very happy with the little charm letters better than taking apart a keychain (original idea), the slide charms were easy to add to the ribbon wrapped around the bouquets and the size fits the bouquet very well, anything larger would have looked out of place.<br /><br />We have yet to make mine or the MOH bouquet's, they will be a little fancier than the one above. Mine will have both a star charm and a C.<br /><br />Funny story, when my Craft Fairies were helping me with the bouquets, bouts and coursages, my darling fiance balked at the idea that all the girls got bouquets, we all insisted that theyre supposed to have them. He insisted that every wedding hes been in(8) and to(countless), the bridesmaids didnt have bouquets, only the bride. how crazy is that? after a quick FB poll, everyone replied that theyve never seen weddings without bridesmaid bouquets.<br /><br /><span style="color:#009900;">PRICE BREAKDOWN</span><br />it is difficult to decide exactly how to breakdown the cost, because the bouquets, bouteneers, corsages and other items are all being made with the same supplies. Around the glass on the table will be some votive candle holders, and maybe some glass rocks. <br />
<div>
<div>
<div>
I got 11 votives from a past pink/orange bride on craigslist she had them decorated like this:<img alt="" border="0" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5512924459498428274" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiG52THmK5y0tx5b7zDuGNxGdAXcyZ63aSwS1E8lCB4i5_ISn49ikKAS0ObEfAQ1GZs_hrlePIhv3_qx0sz42lmpHEs2IJW7ML3HIQDcyS6uZbKLsNNXINmIvJXkzo6zVCSDiPafwPaFVX6/s320/088.JPG" style="cursor: hand; display: block; height: 240px; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; width: 320px;" /></div>
<div>
With help from my DIY fairies, (MOH and Aunt of the Bride) we gently ripped the pink flowers and black ribbon off of the orange paper. </div>
<br />
<div>
Then we covered the little tear spot with a white scrapbook daisy sticker. the middle of the daisies were green/yellow so we popped little blue rhinestone stickers in the middle of them. (seen on the left, below) I had also found some blue and orange paper daisies as well so some of the votives have stickers and some have the paper flowers and some have both. (shown also with rhinestone sticker, on the right, below)</div>
<br />
<div>
</div>
<img alt="" border="0" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5512927468619920194" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgizgg2h7b9A1REyzE_F4BcHdviRPdmqHTsQrYiVZ2j8iMzSXZABiSQsPhvaINzZZCru6MsLi5OebMZ1rrfNLTczZvXFfImtOqMwZjff7N9AuxcUk3MzfdgGFJ6NNf3rvz_99pD6dr27AAD/s320/IMG_8233.JPG" style="cursor: hand; display: block; height: 240px; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; width: 320px;" />Because I need quite a few more than I got from her, I bought very similar votives in glass jars at Walmart.<br />
<div>
While looking for some decorative blue paper, I thought about how I had to cut strips off the edge of the invitation cards to make them fit better with the invitations. And I had not yet recycled the scraps. Having precut strips of paper made the decorating process go faster. I just dabbed the end with hot glue, wrapped it around, ripped the paper to fit and glued the other end, I hid the seam with the flowers. on some, you can see that we added a contrasting ribbon as well. To bring some purple into the tablescapes, we did some with purple ribbon instead of paper. (shown at the right end, below)<br />
<img alt="" border="0" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5512928649308808114" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhqAPKcbbU_J5iH0x6gCxz36hRP3xPwJCe66XMq7uQlhutHOhEikmxFaEiAa_58JA3Y4rTkqa8Ki-AX2-CbOi3eZouZXvtC4uzHZ4BE8ZHqxcUTju2j-S-GXfmjo-WiI8dAP2CEswl1xeVT/s320/IMG_8232.JPG" style="cursor: hand; display: block; height: 240px; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; width: 320px;" /></div>
<div>
<span style="color: #33cc00;">Price breakdown:</span></div>
<div>
votives from craigslist: $5.50 for 11</div>
<div>
votives from Walmart: $12 for 24</div>
<div>
<span style="color: #000099;">blue</span> paper from recycling: free</div>
<div>
hot glue from craft supplies: already owned and who knows when i would have used it again</div>
<div>
daisy stickers: used less than 3 sheets, each was $1</div>
<div>
<span style="color: #3333ff;">blue</span> rhinestone stickers: used way less than 1 sheet which was $3</div>
<div>
paper daisies from Party Depot: used less than 2 packs, each was 3.99 </div>
<div>
leftover ribbon from other projects: already included in other items price breakdown</div>
<div>
grand total of $31.48 / for 35 votives = <span style="color: #33cc00;">$0.90 each</span> <span style="font-size: 85%;">(a little more than I would have hoped, the paper flowers were the biggest splurge)</span> and I have bunches more paper flowers, daisy stickers and rhinestone stickers to use on other things. </div>
<div>
</div>
<div>
Afterthought: I really hope to be able to sell the votives to another bride (or someone) after the wedding. I would hate for them to clutter up my home or be in a landfill somewhere. <br />
<br />
ETA<br />
I have used these same votive holders multiple times since. I undecorated them and redecorated them for my brother's wedding, and for <a href="http://pretzelparties.blogspot.com/2012/05/butterfly-bridal-shower-deck-was.html">a bridal shower</a> too!<br />

This was a lot of copy/pasting then changing the names for each invited party.<br />I printed the pages and cut the squares out. <span style="font-size:85%;">(The actual squares were a very light ink color I just used it to help lay out the names on the page, and to help with cutting, I didn't actually want a printed square after cutting.)<br /></span>The names are the same font as used inside the invitation. I chose to use first names for most of them, and on some, they were even more personalized, for example, Aunt Sally and Uncle Jim. I put nicknames on some of them, like my friend Rachelina and her son Judebug. This may not be the most "proper" formal etiquette, but its very much "me" <span style="font-size:85%;">(for my guests),</span> for Mikey's guests, they were mostly first names. Some guests were added after the printing was done, for them, I just cut a blank square of cardstock, and handwrote the names on it, just as an innerenvelope would be hand written. </div></div><br /><div><div>The invitation kits that we bought didn't actually come with inner envelopes, so this was great alternative to adding an extra envelope, and it dressed up the front of the invitation. <span style="font-size:85%;">(we didn't actually use the invitation kit cards due to <a href="http://hiscb.blogspot.com/2010/08/i-wanted-to-staples-her-feet-to-floor.html">printing difficulties</a>, but we used the envelopes.) </span><br /></div><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5510525789376669970" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 200px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 150px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjM2qG8nxyi2KtCpn9Nxq3scnKGn1dGM4pAEapyjAJCeJwpeOxmcSQvjF0RLujvyQRjUOcA8u3eAokUIfQ0gtbTzfLWjIZbdZnHdjddJez2oM4aE-uYslzBez2M01K7wHAousPcMkc5Le7A/s200/IMG_8161.JPG" border="0" />The information card was tucked under the ribbon on the inside. Also, he wouldnt be able to print me a proof for about an hour. I decided to call other printing places instead.<br /><a href="http://www.officemaxsolutions.com/impress.shtml">Officemax</a> quoted me .49 / page, so overall $15 less than Kinkos. Maybe. Thanks to Google Maps, I realized that <a href="http://hiscb.blogspot.com/2010/08/wedding-party.html">Staples does printing </a>also. (And I am always looking for an excuse to go to K station anyway, I thought while they print them, I can go by Michaels.) Over the phone, the girl said they would be 2 for 0.49. because the cardstock I was bringing in was 5.5X8.5. So half the price of Officemax and even less than half of Kinkos.<br />After arriving at Staples, I learn that the price was misquoted to me, but the manager who was assiting in the copyprint center said that they would honor the price today but for future reference, it doenst matter how big the paper is.<br />So the copyprint associate who I had spoken with over the phone started working on printing a proof. I could tell off the bat that she didnt really know what she was doing, but for half price, I was willing to be patient. She was in training and even had to ask another associate how to find my memory card files in the computer.<br />After multiple black and white copies printed on her own paper, she prints a color version. The <span style="color:#ff6600;">orange </span><span style="color:#000000;">shadow</span>, was <span style="color:#ffff00;">yellow</span>. So I try to adjust the color on her computer, but they have a different version of microsoft Word, so that doesnt work. Uhg, so we decide to just go home and adjust the color and come back another day.<br />Before we left I asked the associate if I would get the price she quoted me, she said, no I thought you would be getting 2 images per page, but these will be $0.49 each, the rsvps would be 2/49 (because i would have had to cut them in half anyway) GRRRR.<br />I decide to just try printing at home, because even a new ink cartridge for my printer (which I may not even need) wouldnt cost half of that.<br /><br />So at home, I adjust the color, and do a color trial mock up with my clip art in several versions of orange, then went to go get my printer out of the garage, where its being stored until my apartment is finished.<br />I cant find it anywhere. Not in the garage, not in the attic, not in the house, not in the new storage space. Not in a boat, not with a goat, not here not there not anywhere... GRRR<br />The next day, Mikey helps me look and we cannot find it either!?!!?<br />So I decide to try to print it on Mikeys printer. I printed one and chose which color we liked best. Then after spending way too much time playing with settings, I couldnt get the printer to let me set a custom paper size. And i couldnt trick it by saying the paper was 8.5x11 and just printing on the top half, the paper jammed. GRRRR.<br /><br />So I call Staples and speak with a manager, I explain what I was quoted originally and why, because the sheets were have the size of a standard paper. She agrees to honor the original half price quote, but she doesnt think that their machines can print on such a small paper. I explain that the manager who had agreed to honor the price the other day, another associate and the one in training all saw my cardstock and no one (of the 3 of them) said it would be a problem at that time, so she agrees its probably fine then.<br /><br />I get to Staples, and a different associate is working and doesnt think they can print on small cards. But she is willing to try. After trying to no avail to change the printer settings, she calls another manager who says there isnt a way, the machines arent designed for small pages, they will get jammed in the printer. I am amazed that my $30 Walmart printer can handle it but theirs cannot. The manager offers to print 2 images on cardstock and cut them in half, so it will be what I want, kinda, but not use the the fancy invitation kit, I was so happy to have found on clearance, was worthless, except I will use the envelopes. (I also ended up using the rest of the peices for <a href="http://hiscb.blogspot.com/2010/11/place-cards-and-labels.html">place cards and cupcake labels</a>)<br />Staple's price on printing on their cardstock is about $0.50 more per page. I think, I bet its way cheaper to buy a ream of cardstock, and have them print on that instead, and it was. I got 250 sheets of cardstock (their smallest package, way more than the 75 I needed) for $15 and gave her the go-ahead to do a proof for me.<br />After approving the proofs, we can go get us some Jamba Juice while we wait.<br />I decided to cut them myself because the image ended up being a little smaller than I thought, and I wanted to control how I cropped them.<br />So because I was able to have 2 images printed on each card, I got the 2/$0.49 price, I just also had to spend the $ on cardstock. I will be able to use the rest of the cardstock for other things, and hopefully I will find my printer eventually and I can use the rest of the cards for the baby announcements or something.<br /><br />I was happy with one part of the printing. The manager said they couldnt print my favor lables, because the machine heats up the sticker paper and it can come apart and jam up, but the associate felt bad for me, so she said its only a few pages and she is willing to try. She had to adjust the image slightly so that printing wouldnt cut of the edges of some of the labels. She was very nice about doing that. Then she printed them, I only needed 1 of each, but all of them needed to be tweeked a bit. They came out great, the machine didnt jam up or anything. I figured that the machine had a chance to cool off between pages while she tweeked each one.<br /><br /><strong>Long Story Short:</strong><br /><br /><ul><li>Dont count on being able to get smaller than standard pages printed professionally, check first. </li><li>dont believe what they tell you over the phone, even when you give very specifically detailed information about what you need. </li><li>and dont get your heart set on something, you may find its easier to give up the idea than to stress of how it just wont work. </li><li>dont expect to get things done the first time, or in a timely fashion, better to assume it will cause a headache, so hopefully you will be pleasently surprised. </li><li>dont wait until the last week to get things done, it will only add to the stress. </li></ul>Cyndihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03993256987784714244noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7807219302587232838.post-39324214337294082582010-08-04T21:37:00.000-07:002010-08-15T19:30:59.508-07:00invitation supplies are all set out for the invitation fairys to come in the middle of the night tonight!so i posted some i<a href="http://www.wilton.com/store/images/site_images/1008-520_m.jpg"><img style="FLOAT: left; I also wont likely use all the tape or ribbon. I was unable to use the invitation cards and rsvp cards that came with the 3.97 kits, only the envelopes, but I expect to use them for Thank You's and maybe menu cards.Cyndihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03993256987784714244noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7807219302587232838.post-85563873214738649942010-08-02T20:55:00.000-07:002012-10-07T20:39:48.058-07:00cupcake trialsso after I decided to do cupcakes instead of a traditional wedding cake, my darling fiance informed me that we must taste a bunch of flavors. (he does have a sweet tooth at times)<br />
<div>
</div>
<br />
<div>
The <a href="http://www.cupcaketree.com/">cupcake tree</a> I found can hold up to 300 cupcakes, we will make possibly more than that and have them on the table around the tree. I want there to be plenty, and even have leftovers for guests to take home in to-go boxes we got. </div>
<div>
</div>
<br />
<div>
I thought of doing cupcakes in just a few basic flavors and decorate them all in wedding colors, but I figured I would get enough wedding color decor when I decorate <a href="http://hiscb.blogspot.com/2010/06/cupcake-tree.html">the stand </a>and when I started looking at cupcakes I liked the ones that had little clues on the frosting as to whats inside. </div>
<div>
</div>
<br />
<div>
so I thought of some flavor ideas and decorating ideas and here are some of the ones i came up with:</div>
<div>
<div>
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiGH741g1MAxNfDOLU0rMtHgzl9HS4bN_Aigd41It0aZ00r8YXdB6p9V8WZEsj9jRSctRHM1S67WnZP_KcIMG_7n3p6XXLu0LiAtwT0vcrjkPw-PVzjjcL684ASUtaV9q4G2NcBsUk-zdab/s1600/IMG_7826.JPG"><img alt="" border="0" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5501038666879522098" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiGH741g1MAxNfDOLU0rMtHgzl9HS4bN_Aigd41It0aZ00r8YXdB6p9V8WZEsj9jRSctRHM1S67WnZP_KcIMG_7n3p6XXLu0LiAtwT0vcrjkPw-PVzjjcL684ASUtaV9q4G2NcBsUk-zdab/s320/IMG_7826.JPG" style="cursor: hand; float: left; height: 219px; margin: 0px 10px 10px 0px; width: 250px;" /></a> </div>
<div>
<strong><br /></strong>
<strong>almond joy</strong> 1 chocolate cake mix with almond extract added, 1 white cake made with coconut milk and coconut extract added. topped with shredded coconut and a roasted almond. first, I put some chocolate batter in, then some coconut batter and swirled with a toothpick. </div>
<br />
<div>
the frosting is a can of chocolate that has almond flavored syrup mixed in. </div>
<br />
<div>
I can also make some of these Mounds by waiting to add the almond extract to the chocolate until half of them are made, then top with all coconut and no almond. because some times you feel like a nut, and sometimes, you dont.</div>
<br />
<div>
<br />
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjMtOWHQA3KsiEbYIUOa4yOcJqhvBLxANd7-bgx_nJB-NIoGRq_wXrbcbCXQJRflh4M-6yatkqfVl8uSRBYa_kwkwbXrjku9RPM_q3VO4Uu8aNaLRcfDYvVeXvAUUt4f5-BjlmmgDKy5MdV/s1600/IMG_8037.JPG"><img alt="" border="0" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5501040912711880194" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjMtOWHQA3KsiEbYIUOa4yOcJqhvBLxANd7-bgx_nJB-NIoGRq_wXrbcbCXQJRflh4M-6yatkqfVl8uSRBYa_kwkwbXrjku9RPM_q3VO4Uu8aNaLRcfDYvVeXvAUUt4f5-BjlmmgDKy5MdV/s320/IMG_8037.JPG" style="cursor: hand; float: left; height: 320px; margin: 0px 10px 10px 0px; width: 240px;" /></a> <strong>raspberry lemonade</strong> 1 lemon cake made with lemonade concentrate instead of half of the water(i tried with all concentrate and it was on the strong side) and 1 lemon cake made with half lemonade concentrate, mashed fresh raspberries (or chopped frozen) and some raspberry jello powder (or kool-ade) mixed in (dont forget the eggs like i did btw). </div>
<div>
i put the lemon cake batter in the cups first, then topped with some raspberry cake and swirled with a toothpick. (the seperate color/flavor part can be skipped but i wanted them to look fancier than a solid color) they're topped with lemon frosting (from a can), fresh raspberry and a lemon peel or lemon candy and a sprinkling of more jello powder</div>
<br />
<div>
this can be done with only 1 mix if you fill all the cupcake cups halfway with lemon then add some raspberry stuff then finish. i was making 4 dozen anyway so I used 2 boxes.<br />
<br />
for testing, I made these for my late uncle's celebration of life that we held instead of a funeral. I opted for the lemon drops because they were my Grammies favorite candy before she passed away 22 years ago (and every candy is uncle Keith's favorite). Also, they were easier to work with than a lemon slice or peel in the mornings while pregnant. </div>
<br />
Everyone raved about how yummy these were, but people suggested that for the wedding, to do either do a gummy candy, or lemon slice. the lemon drop was too much, to have to suck on, in addition to eating the cupcake.<br />
<br />
<br />
<div>
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiJIoQV9xqx9SCvHw5_UfP6D1_1ZRIjOTbX7sSU5vE9EXH3JUq76M81cFeBv6UMKQBneeYG7Ks5H-jf8fR8_w8bAnYFSTKFbluWpdOxWyMvTbF4yFWgY6HHxQrbqOoLgoNgAqmmlFm8K3ke/s1600/IMG_7793.JPG"><img alt="" border="0" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5501028860232028722" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiJIoQV9xqx9SCvHw5_UfP6D1_1ZRIjOTbX7sSU5vE9EXH3JUq76M81cFeBv6UMKQBneeYG7Ks5H-jf8fR8_w8bAnYFSTKFbluWpdOxWyMvTbF4yFWgY6HHxQrbqOoLgoNgAqmmlFm8K3ke/s320/IMG_7793.JPG" style="cursor: hand; float: left; height: 221px; margin: 0px 10px 10px 0px; width: 298px;" /></a> </div>
<strong>strawberry cheesecake</strong> strawberry cake mix with chopped strawberries mixed in. frosted with cream cheese frosting and top rolled in crushed graham crackers and a strawberry slice.<br />
<div>
</div>
<div>
</div>
<div>
I decided to frost the cupcakes with the same as the filling, it was so much yummier than the canned frosting.</div>
<div>
</div>
<div>
</div>

for the filling, I mixed softened cream cheese with powdered sugar is all. to do the filling, I poked the handle end of a wooden spoon in the middle of the cupcake, then using a "pastry bag" (corner cut off ziplock baggie) to pipe the filling into the hole. </div>
<br />
<br />
<br />
<div>
i also made a full sized cake the same way, but poked bunches of holes all around the cake.</div>
<br />

i have yet to try:</div>

<div>
<strong>oreo cookies and cream</strong> i will look for a recipe for this one, probably just a white cake with oreo crumbs/cream mixed in, topped with a cream frosting and a mini oreo. </div>
<br />
ETA I ended up putting half of an oreo at the bottom of the cupcake liner)<br />
<div>
</div>
<br />
<div>
i did mini cheesecakes for our annual Daytona 500 party, because oreos look like tires. cheesecake is a lot of work though, so i will stick with cupcakes. </div>

<br />
Mikey also suggested doing "like a rainbow cake with lots of colors, because it would look neat" i said "like funfetti cake?" he didnt know what funfetti was. How can i marry a man who doesnt know what funfetti is? so i showed him the box at the grocery store and he said that is exactly what i had in mind. <br />
<br />
recipe for homemade funfetti cupcakes <a href="http://www.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://www.52kitchenadventures.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/06/inside-of-homemade-funfetti-cupcake-2.jpg&imgrefurl=http://www.52kitchenadventures.com/page/2/&usg=__1bk378BxRmBa1ivnnaCkiVzHI98=&h=1334&w=1334&sz=727&hl=en&start=33&sig2=qsZCUXf3NikVdWwOWLioww&um=1&itbs=1&tbnid=z61BzCuDUQn16M:&tbnh=150&tbnw=150&prev=/images%3Fq%3Dfunfetti%2Bcupcake%26start%3D20%26um%3D1%26hl%3Den%26sa%3DN%26ndsp%3D20%26tbs%3Disch:1&ei=e61XTIrkHYamsQOlmc2dCA">here </a><br />
<br />
(ETA I ended up doing box funfetti cake with solid blue and orange sprinkles to go with the wedding theme, I considered using the homemade recipe with just orange and blue but liked the rainbows of color.<br />
<br />
we will also have just basic chocolate and white cakes for the boring or less courageous guests. (ETA we also had Gluten Free and Sugar Free cupcakes.)</div>

Well shopping with my sister, my MOH, she like the idea and we found some iron-on silvery letters on clearance at <a href="http://www.joann.com/joann/search/searchall.jsp?keyword=iron%20on%20letter&catPath=All%20Products////Product%20Home////UserSearch1=iron%20on%20letter&_requestid=14326">Joann's</a>. so I bought them. I needed 6 sets but they only had 5 of one style letter and 1 of another, so i decided that the MOH can be slightly different from the others. She liked the idea of being special. I told her she was already special to me. Short bus special, lol.<br /><br />The personalized hangers for their gowns was another silly idea that I fell in love with. Read an inspiration blog post <a href="http://hiscb.blogspot.com/2010/06/personalized-hangers.html">here.</a><br /><br />I was able to make 5 shirts plus hangers for $32.32 so about $6.46 each person. I also had enough letters leftover to make myself a hanger and a shirt later if I find a shirt that will fit the pregnant me for a while.<br /><br /><div><div> </div><div>I am opting not to include a step-by-step tuturial because I would basically be copying the instructions on the back of the iron-on letters package. </div><div>One tip though, it says to move the iron back and forth, not a great idea, the letters shifted slightly when I did that, it worked just fine to hold the iron in one place. For the rhinestone letters, I used the side of the iron without the steam holes so that the rhinestones wouldnt be bothered by the holes. not sure if this was nessesary... </div><div> </div><div>Price breakdown:<br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgE7EzQ5dz_jFyEEb_4HpVm89BDgoVHAwHcCwN4Su8C_T-9PkdXX0BbyKnea_yyokZOqp2ZOCZmvWindNhUI-qPfmKVW89hlkenB8tZmT0ygcYRaLpBpZe971ngUQb1XRSmxRuRWdqPbO7O/s1600/IMG_7977.JPG"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5496809955031918114" style="FLOAT: left; MARGIN: 0px 10px 10px 0px; WIDTH: 337px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 270px" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgE7EzQ5dz_jFyEEb_4HpVm89BDgoVHAwHcCwN4Su8C_T-9PkdXX0BbyKnea_yyokZOqp2ZOCZmvWindNhUI-qPfmKVW89hlkenB8tZmT0ygcYRaLpBpZe971ngUQb1XRSmxRuRWdqPbO7O/s320/IMG_7977.JPG" border="0" /></a>I thought about doing tank-tops or camis but the wedding is in October in Oregon, and not all of my ladies will want to wear tanks. these shirts are large enough to wear a long sleeve shirt under also.<br /></div></div><div>The 4 girls' shirts were $1.50 each on clearance at <a href="http://www.walmart.com/search/search-ng.do?search_constraint=0&ic=48_0&search_query=miley+and+max">Wal-Mart</a>. I also got an orange one but i dont know what brand it was. The blue one i got at Michaels kept smearing, so I will use it for something else.<br />~the stamps were on clearance at Joann's I wasnt sure what I was going to use them for but they were only $4 and I was in a shopping mood. There are bunches of wedding quotes but we only really liked 2. the one we stamped in blue says "to love and laughter and happily ever after"<br />~ I already owned the stamp block but I have used the ink pad cover before when I was using more stamps than blocks I owned. So its not nessesary to buy the block. Also, I have seen the blocks in the dollar bins too.<br />~ I have used 2 10-yard spools of ribbon so far, i have only made about a quarter of the napkins though. the ribbon spools were on sale for 0.20 each at <a href="http://www.michaels.com/art/online/home">Michaels</a><br />~ The little charm things were included in a lot of wedding stuff I bought from a woman on craigslist. Everything I bought from her was from the <a href="http://www.dollartree.com/party-supplies/Wedding-Bridal-Shower/207c345c345/index.cat?index=0&viewall=1">Dollar Tree</a> and it worked out that i paid .67 each item and each package of 24. What I got from her wasnt enough however so i picked up a few more packages at $1 each.<br />~The napkins and plasticware were from <a href="http://www.smartfoodservice.com/">Cash&Carry</a><br /><br />now for the steps:<br /><br /><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5495848194215432354" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 200px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 150px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhdOP9MkRT5U0UcUrPShgDC8WpXa_u6WwD6L2CFKPkrg3k2N96j3lEWj5SCjNQ14lCsOAPaQrbbQ23Ra81THreg0TohoOoPAi4IhFcer-Dq6Z1_YVgOsLLBxxBB54s_cBUO9k4_AOk9cuc6/s200/IMG_7967.JPG" border="0" /><br />stick the stamp to the block and ink, press firmly to the napkin, without rocking back and forth, then let it dry for a bit.<br /><br /><p> </p><p><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5495850326656720450" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 200px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 150px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjyGe0IDQgxdn0xOftdJgYXopGJqhGRdqSspGxqLvFsX6fNnhthMj6jHg6CEzGChKj0Sk8ibPttLkFJparhXZHojnvKYWpd41uSFIomiTnnkVBgGYs5nXxOO6NcVkDKm2BVGwIi0IdwUNwO/s200/IMG_7968.JPG" border="0" /></p>I found the best way to stack the silverware was knife, fork, spoon. lined up on the center of the diagonal.<br /><br /><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5495850980820656514" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 200px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 150px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjdfrax99bztDE4HrhEWFzp_n2mavev3glwxU0t_fE-97FW8KHXvnXLbGHIvbZs5AzeN6BOAcYDG7mWopMQP4HAgrG8vLrnAURoLlOnmnDuBEvJlVUDH33WNiardedCqEZpNhWi7lD95ydK/s200/IMG_7969.JPG" border="0" /><br />fold up the bottom corner then the right corner, like a burrito.<br /><br /><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5495851847307583170" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 200px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 150px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg9e5ydgENN6UZHv3V9CzklVhAXGGXvW9dWWLVhlFXMY8jd2VsMrJD9_cOyMdUVeJNWRAfDg8K5VvDkJGAPtn0FXH9dWz2WCyyAxig16n8o02Nh2I_oZ4MYX4JDX-1Irmxh8tQCwib1npPn/s200/IMG_7973.JPG" border="0" /><br />then roll somewhat tightly, but keep it pretty. then I cut a length of orange ribbon, tied in a knot on the front of the roll.<br /><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5495853015395780802" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 200px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 150px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhzEooNkAuzD9DmCaELi3KS3wUC6loDZZWcBlMraReeaN-buT4SKTroDdA5fD5OEIBSBadxIk30br903USMpwQs255SoJvjoi5OJtD1wfAsBEyRH55g1CfruOqSSKLJOx8GYq1ZFr6PNUo5/s200/IMG_7964.JPG" border="0" /><br />these are the little charms i got from craigslist/dollar tree. they were tied on with the knot in the back. <img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5495853879085412882" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 200px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 150px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjNt3nJ4K0zsxU6mmAVn5xzGNof5SdqtlyFqR60CLaWfcpav9tU-f6XEcTojpo90NhjLIoGcvn8nkpg5jk2J_KI1mgzfgWo2eQKdjOhVUbRq59X6y0ymOGUJ9gf8DkfDPY09fldJQOv6SaU/s200/IMG_7966.JPG" border="0" /> they came pre-tied together and on a longer ribbon that fit perfectly around the roll. initially I thought I would only use these, to save time and money, but they needed some color, and I wanted to incorporate our wedding colors so I added the orange ribbon. its worth the extra time and (very little) extra money.<br /><div><div><div></div><div>When I am half way done, I will switch to orange ink with a blue ribbon. the back of the tag says our day is fast approaching we can hardly wait wed love for you to be there so be sure to save the date then our names and wedding webiste address and password then formal invitation to follow. people RAVED about them. i was very proud. </div>
<div>
</div>
<div>
i used my cricut and the sweathearts cartridge to do the "save the date" and the "tying the knot" and the numbers, hearts and "we're" came from the plantin schoolbook cartridge. i hole punched where the ribbon was going to string through, then used a large eyed needle. </div>

the project was pretty tedious, my advice for this project, be super organized and have lots of supplies. </div>
<div>

more pictures and exact details of the sizes and supplies will be coming soon.<br />

(and some other colors for other people i suppose) <a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhIbl8QnNbpd-_Od47-12HTpGySHHHpNDnBaDtz0fMHqA8dvuKCkOp8vnYIGjclvLsWB__RKXknGexfak0cWHjy_4U6Ujoj-ZqDT-uc4fcfVm0VOmcTWyD3dLhl13L7HF8wqKfvYp4mXaQF/s1600/aqua+gems+candle.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5488764046751294850" style="FLOAT: left; MARGIN: 0px 10px 10px 0px; WIDTH: 200px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 144px" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhIbl8QnNbpd-_Od47-12HTpGySHHHpNDnBaDtz0fMHqA8dvuKCkOp8vnYIGjclvLsWB__RKXknGexfak0cWHjy_4U6Ujoj-ZqDT-uc4fcfVm0VOmcTWyD3dLhl13L7HF8wqKfvYp4mXaQF/s200/aqua+gems+candle.jpg" border="0" /></a></div><div></div><div><br /></div><div>they also sell pre-hydrated bottles of the Gems but its the same price for 1/4 of the amount as the dry beads. the dry ones will take up less space in the meantime also. </div><div></div><div><br /></div><div></div><div><br /></div><div>i did find some off brand ones from Dollar tree but the quantity (and likely quality) is better with the dry Aqua Gems. </div><div><br /></div><div></div><div><br /></div><div>i had gotten some short wine glasses with a wide openeing (not sure the official name) instead of candle holders, because when i was shopping for candle holders, these were $0.25-$0.50 at my favorite thrift store because they were older than 2 months on the shelf. i liked that there were a lot of them, many of them matching. and i like the charity that the money goes to Humaine Society. unlike Goodwill or other second hand shops, the money is local, some of the employees are volunteers and the prices are actually fair. So many second hand stores over price, sometimes the same or more than buying brand new. </div><div><br /></div><div></div><div><br /></div><div>i will take a small moment to inject my 2 cents about thrift stores, i love them for the non impact on the environment. buying new products adds new waste in the world in the way of actual product, packaging, shipping from factories. buying used also prevents items from being pushed out of the industry into landfills. not to mention that the money stays local and if you find a good deal, saves money too. </div><div><br /></div><div></div><div><br /></div><div>so far i got 24 of the wine glasses for about $9 and another dozen actual candle holders for another few dollars. </div><div><br /></div><div></div><div><br /></div><div>any way back on subject, i plan to tie little ribbons around the stem of the glasses, fill the top with the aqua gems and insert a floating candle. </div><div><a href="http://0.tqn.com/d/candleandsoap/1/5/U/7/P1010175.JPG"><img style="FLOAT: right; MARGIN: 0px 0px 10px 10px; WIDTH: 300px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 400px" alt="" src="http://0.tqn.com/d/candleandsoap/1/5/U/7/P1010175.JPG" border="0" /></a></div><div> </div><div>to save money, i am going to make floating candles using <a href="http://candleandsoap.about.com/od/candlemakinginstructions/ss/floatingcandles.htm">this tuturial </a>i plan to use some different candles that i found on sale at Michaels and some i already have on hand. i may have to supplement with some extra wax though, we will see after some test runs. </div><div> </div><div>marriage is about compromise and my darling fiance doesnt like candles, so although they wont be completely banished from the house, i wont be needing all the candles that i have. this will also help declutter, as i have a huge box full of candles just sitting there.. </div><div> </div><div> </div><div></div><div><br /></div><div></div><div><br /></div><div></div>Cyndihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03993256987784714244noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7807219302587232838.post-42392530443202749212010-06-30T12:08:00.000-07:002010-06-30T12:21:39.337-07:00Personalized Hangers?<div>ok so if i hadnt seen pictures and super easy tutourials, i would have thought that personalized dress hangers for my girls would be just silly, unnessasary and a waste of money.<br /><div><br /><div><br /><br /></div><div>but i stumbled across this <a href="http://www.weddingbee.com/2010/05/14/decorated-hangers-wedding/#comment-1131795">blingy tuturial </a>from Miss Frog at Weddingbee.com </div><img style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 383px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 290px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="http://www-static.weddingbee.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/05/img-239.jpg" border="0" /> she got inspiration from this <a href="http://www.weddingbee.com/2009/07/07/a-deserving-dress-hanger-part-two/#more-99972">sharpie tuturial</a> from Mrs. Gloss<br /><img style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 400px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 300px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="http://www-static.weddingbee.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/05/gloss-w.jpg" border="0" /><br /><div>who go her inspiration from mrspaetz on this <a href="http://boards.weddingbee.com/topic/diy-monogrammed-hangers-1">board post</a>. </div><br /><img style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 450px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 300px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="http://pics.boards.weddingbee.com/21032.hanger4.jpg" border="0" /><br /><div>I love love love how brides get inspiration from eachother. </div><br /></div><div>Well I bought some iron on letters to make "bridesmaid" t-shirts for my ladies. i'm thinking if i end up with the right extra letters to do monograms i might use the extras for this project. my letters are smaller, and 2 of my bms have the same first initial, so i'll see if i can do all 3 initials.<br /><br />oooh i just got the idea that when i give them the t-shirts i can gift them on the hangers! good idea self.<br /></div><div></div><div><br /><br /><br /><br /></div><div></div></div>Cyndihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03993256987784714244noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7807219302587232838.post-30655493411195077202010-06-30T11:37:00.000-07:002010-06-30T12:06:50.299-07:00Cupcake Treeso i decided early on that i wanted to do cupcakes instead of a traditional wedding cake. <div><div><div><br /><div>i wasnt sure how to display them, i found lots of great pics on theknot.com but having such a large guestlist, i needed something big. (and cheap) <a href="http://www.cakejournal.com/archives/how-to-make-a-cake-stand-for-cupcakes-or-mini-cakes"><img style="FLOAT: right; MARGIN: 0px 0px 10px 10px; WIDTH: 171px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 200px" alt="" src="http://www.cakejournal.com/uploaded_images/billeder-rcj-281_resize-713996.JPG" border="0" /></a><br /><br /><br /></div><div>i found <a href="http://www.allthingscupcake.com/2008/10/16/diy-cupcake-stands/">lots of instructions on how to make a cupcake stand </a>similar to this one at <a href="http://www.cakejournal.com/archives/how-to-make-a-cake-stand-for-cupcakes-or-mini-cakes">Cake Journal</a></div><br /><br /><div></div><br /><br /><div></div><br /><br /><div></div><br /><br /><div></div><br /><br /><div>i remembered when we cleared out the storage i found some huge long heavy duty cardboard tubing that we can cut into the risers and then either cut cardboard or buy cake rounds. </div><br /><div>so i bought <a href="http://www.michaels.com/art/online/displayProductPage?productNum=bk0035">cake circles from michaels </a>to save the work of cutting perfect circles out of cardboard. i got as many as i thought for just about $24.<br /></div><div>then i stumbled upon <a href="http://www.cupcaketree.com/">http://www.cupcaketree.com/</a><br /></div><div>and this bad boy. Size: 21" high - 34" wide, 4" between discs (they do offer smaller as well as square trees also) <img style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 350px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 300px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="http://www.cupcaketree.com/images/naked-CCT.jpg" border="0" /></div><div> </div><div>he holds up to 150-300 cupcakes. so i found the receipt to michaels and took back the cardboard circles and ordered him. </div><div> </div><div>He came in the mail in just a few days and was very easy to assemble (and disassemble, for now) originally i thought spray painting would be easiest, but the slots would show up if i painted it, also the edges were raw, cut cardboard, and the bottom couple levels were folded in half for shipping. so i am currently looking for decorative paper, i'm thinking wrapping paper would work well and be large enough. </div><div> </div><div>$39.95 + $10 shipping. costing more than the materials if i would have DIYed it, but the fun part of the DIY is decorating, not building, so this was a perfect compromise for me. </div><div> </div><div>the wrapping paper idea made me think, we can easily repurpose this as a treat stand at Christmas, (2 months after the wedding) we can remove the bottom level or 2 and use a green paper and add mini ornaments and bows, make it look like a Christmas tree. </div></div></div></div>Cyndihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03993256987784714244noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7807219302587232838.post-67823407045936867752010-06-30T11:23:00.000-07:002010-06-30T11:36:25.691-07:00bouquets initial bling<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg1BTr-tpKBysPtWUubYsmybqV9W5Z-R0zbs-PbzEvHwDmMF9NasPD9t9W6cOsACddxHSiw5hh1rWFadWaGtdoKVCvSS_jU6bH8Aag2KIzmJ2VZ-9KaxjVMd_Yu4ajWS5YyktrYdO-zi4_r/s1600/bouquet+initial+inspiration++krishnaswami08.bmp"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5488636651488029266" style="FLOAT: right;
